Our History and Who we are
There is one object inside a refinery that almost never gets mentioned by name. It does not spin like a turbine, it does not blaze like a flare, and it does not tower like a distillation column. Its job is simple enough: open, hold, close. It is called a valve. And almost the entire story of our company begins with that forgotten object.
Founded in 2018, PT Geolyra Energi Internasional began in a workshop of more than 200 square metres in Cilegon with a clear purpose: to bring world-class valve engineering capability closer to Indonesian industries.
The idea grew from practical experience and a strong engineering background. The people behind Geolyra understood how a single leaking or malfunctioning valve could compromise plant safety, interrupt production and delay a shutdown schedule—resulting in substantial financial losses for customers. They had experienced the challenges of waiting for overseas support, sourcing critical spare parts and finding local services capable of meeting demanding technical requirements.
Geolyra was established to address those challenges, combining international experience with Indonesian capability to provide responsive, reliable and technically sound support.
Our Foundations: Experience, Ingenuity and Trust
Although Geolyra was a new company, its founding team brought more than 20 years of experience in the valve industry, a core part of the broader flow control sector. That experience spanned equipment manufacturing, distribution, plant operations and maintenance services.
These perspectives provided a comprehensive understanding of the asset life cycle: how equipment is designed and selected, how it performs in operation, why it fails and what is required to restore its integrity. This foundation shaped Geolyra’s approach from the beginning. Each repair was an engineering responsibility, requiring an understanding of the application, operating conditions and consequences of failure.
Our name reflects that outlook. “Geo” represents the earth, our grounding in practical engineering and the industries we serve. “Lyra,” a constellation, represents unity, direction and shared ambition. Together, they express a company grounded in technical expertise while looking towards a wider horizon.
Our promise, “Ingenuity & Beyond,” captures the resourcefulness and commitment we bring to solving customers’ challenges.
From Cilegon to a Wider Service Network
Our first workshop in Cilegon placed us close to one of Indonesia’s major petrochemical and industrial centres. Proximity to customers enabled responsive support during urgent repairs and planned turnarounds, when every hour could affect plant availability and production.
From the outset, we treated documentation as an essential part of our service. Inspection findings, test results, before-and-after photographs, inspection and test plans, and warranty documentation provided customers with traceable evidence of the work performed.
Trust developed through consistent delivery. Initial assignments created opportunities for further work, and those relationships helped Geolyra grow.
We subsequently expanded into Bekasi and developed a wider service network to support customers across Indonesia. Maintenance and service engagements with Harbour Energy, Vopak Jakarta Tank Terminal and Medco reflect our development into a trusted partner for critical industrial operations.
As our reach expanded, our purpose remained consistent: to bring competent people, dependable engineering and responsive service closer to the assets that need them.
Who We Are: A Flow Control Engineering Solutions Company
Today, Geolyra provides integrated flow control engineering solutions across the entire asset life cycle. Our role extends from equipment selection and supply through installation support, inspection, testing, maintenance, repair and asset integrity management.
We combine practical field and workshop experience with engineering analysis to help customers understand equipment condition, identify failure mechanisms and determine appropriate actions. This means considering the complete application: process fluid, pressure, temperature, operating frequency, materials and safety requirements.
Our aim is to help customers operate safely, improve reliability, extend asset life and make informed maintenance decisions. Completing a repair is one part of that responsibility; understanding and addressing the causes of recurring problems is equally valuable.
Specialists in Critical Applications and Severe Service
Geolyra focuses on applications where equipment performance has significant consequences for safety, production and environmental protection.
We support oil and gas, petrochemicals, mining—including high-pressure acid leaching (HPAL)—power generation and fertilizer industries. These environments can involve high pressures, extreme temperatures, corrosive or abrasive media, frequent cycling and demanding isolation requirements.
Such applications require careful equipment selection, materials knowledge, disciplined inspection and appropriate testing. Our experience includes valves used for emergency shutdown, blowdown, critical isolation and pressure protection.
In HPAL and other severe-service processes, understanding the relationship between operating conditions and equipment failure is essential. We bring that engineering perspective to both equipment solutions and aftermarket support.
From Maintenance Records to Asset Intelligence
As our service experience grew, we recognised the importance of preserving asset knowledge and making it accessible throughout the equipment’s operating life.
This led to the development of VIDAS—Value Integrity Data Analytical System, our in-house digital solution for consolidating asset records, inspection findings, maintenance history and supporting documentation.
VIDAS supports risk-based decisions by helping customers assess equipment condition and criticality, prioritise maintenance and maintain traceability. Combined with online leak detection, it supports a more proactive, condition-based approach to valve integrity management.
International Experience, Delivered Locally
Our people bring experience gained at internationally respected flow control companies. That experience shapes our approach to engineering, quality assurance and control, testing, documentation and safety.
Delivering these capabilities locally gives customers access to Indonesian expertise, responsive support and a local cost structure. Our relationships with international manufacturers further strengthen the connection between global technical knowledge and local service delivery.
Guided by our G-FLOW values, we continue to invest in people, technology and operational discipline. Safety, quality and compliance remain central as we strengthen our Indonesian presence, pursue regional opportunities and develop local manufacturing capability.
Our history and ambitions come together in three clear statements:
Not an ordinary valve repair company. We are a flow control engineering solutions company that covers the entire life cycle of the asset.
Specialists in critical applications and severe service. Oil and gas, petrochemicals, mining including HPAL, and power generation.
International standards with local capability and local pricing. Experience gained at world-class companies, delivered by Indonesian hands
